Knowledge and education are the ingredients needed by a successful individual to integrate oneself to society. It is mandatory that all the opportunities for the youth to enter a higher school of learning be rendered without any bounds on race or economic background. Education gives a form of personal empowerment and a sense of certainty in our ability to bring about a favorable outcome. We can have the energy to pursue our dreams and the personal power to overcome obstacles....Amor Patriae

It wasn't rock. It was gold, part of a hoard so vast it rewrote what we thought we knew about wealth in Southeast Asia before Europeans ever arrived. For three centuries, Spanish conquistadors tore through the Americas chasing the legend of El Dorado, a lost city of gold. They were on the wrong continent the entire time.
Long before Magellan's ships reached these shores, Filipino goldsmiths were casting sacred regalia so precise that European silversmiths admitted they could be fooled by it. Kings wore gold on their teeth. Boats were buried with their owners in gold. Then it all disappeared, not lost to time by accident, but buried on purpose, and then erased from memory by the conquest that followed. This is the story of how an empire's worth of gold vanished into the ground, and how a nation forgot it was ever rich.
